ހަލީމުގެ އާދޭހުގެ އެންމެ ލަފުޒެއް ވެސް އަޑުއަހާކަށް، ބޮޑުމީހާ ބޭނުމެއް ނުވިއެވެ. އޭނާގެ ކޮޓަރިއަށް ވަދެ، ބަންލާފައި ދޮރުލައްޕައިފިއެވެ. ހަލީމަށް ހުރެވުނީ ހުއްޓުން އެރިިގޮތަށް، ކުރިއަށް ވެސް ފަހަތަށް ވެސް، ފިޔަވަޅެއް އަޅަން ނޭނގިފައެވެ. ދެ ލޮލުން ކަރުނަ އޮހިގަތީ ބޭއިޚުތިޔާރުގައެވެ. ދެ ލޯ މަރައިލުމާއެކު ފެނުނީ، ގޭތެރޭގެ އެކަނިވެރި ހާލަތެވެ.

“ލަހެއް ނުވާނަން! އިރާދަކުރެއްވިއްޔާ, ވަރަށް އަވަހަށް އަންނާނަން! ލާރިކޮޅެއް ލިބިގެންނު އެއްޗެއް ގަނެވޭނީ ވެސް!” ނާއިފާގެ ދުވަސްފުރިފައިވާ ބަނޑުގައި ފިރުމައިލުމަށްފަހު، ހަލީމު ނިކުމެގެން ދިޔައީ، މީހަކަށް ނޭނގުނަސް ރޮމުންނެވެ. ހިތުން ލޭކަރުނަ އޮހޮރެމުންދާ ހާލުގައެވެ.

އުމުރުން އެންމެ އެގާރަ އަހަރުގެ ހައްވަ އުޅެނީ، ހަތަރު އަހަރުގެ ކޮއްކޮ މަސަލަސްކުރެވޭތޯއެވެ. އެ ކުއްޖާ ރޮނީއެވެ. ގެއަކު ބޮޑު މީހަކު ނެތެވެ. ހައްވަ ތަށްޓަކަށް ފެންފޮދެއް އެޅިއެވެ. ކޮއްކޮގެ ތުނބުގައި ޖެއްސިއެވެ. އެ ސޮރު ފެން ބޯކަށް ބޭނުމެއް ނުވިއެވެ. އަތުން ޖަހައި ތަށި ވިއްސައިލީއެވެ. ފާރުގައި ޖެހިފައި ތަށި ކުދިކުދި ވެއްޖެއެވެ. ރޮއިރޮއި ގިސްލެވިފައިވާ އެ ސޮރު އިނީ ވިޔަރިއަރާފައެވެ. ހައްވަގެ ދެ ލޯ ފެންކަޅިވިއެވެ. ކޮއްކޮ އެ އުޅެނީ ބަނޑުހައިވެގެންކަން ހައްވައަށް އެނގެއެވެ. އެކަމަކު ދޭނީ ކޮން އެއްޗެއް ހެއްޔެވެ؟ އެއްޗެއް ރޯފިލުވާފައެއް ނެތެވެ. ހައްވައަށް ކައްކާކަށް ނޭނގެއެވެ. މަންމައެއް ބައްޕައެއް ގެއަކު ނެތެވެ. ހަތަރު ފަރާތުން ހިތްދަތިކަމެވެ.

ވަގުކަލޭގެ ބަހަކުން ބަހެއް ނުބުނެއެވެ. އެ ހުރި ގޮތަށް ހުރީއެވެ.
“ފުލުހުންނަށް ގުޅާ!” ކަރީމުއްދީނާ ދިމާއަށް ބަލައިލަމުން ސޭޓު ބުންޏެވެ. އޭނާ ފޯނުނެގިއެވެ. އެވަގުތު ވަގުކަލޭގެ ލޮލުން، ތަޅުންގަނޑު މައްޗަށް ވެއްޓުނު ކަރުނަ ތިކި ސޭޓަށް ފެނުނެވެ.

ނާއިފާ އައި ސީ ޔޫ އަށް ގެންގޮސް، ކަންކަން ހަމަޖެހުމުން، ހަލީމު އައީ ގެއަށެވެ. އޭރު ހައްވަ އިނީ ރޯށެވެ. އަހުމަދަށް އޮތީ ނިދިފައެވެ.

“ތިކަހަލަ ކަންކަން ދެން ނުކުރައްވައްޗޭ!” ސޭޓަށް ނަސޭޙަތް ދިނުމަށްފަހު، ފުލުހުން ނިކުމެގެން ހިނގައްޖެއެވެ.
